A Day of Southern Hospitality and Soybeans...

The Inaugural Bean2Blog was held this week at P. Allen Smith's Moss Mountain Farm. Along with a great group of bloggers, I had the privilege of attending this awesome event!  Allen and members of the Arkansas Soybean Promotion Board greeted us bright and early Tuesday morning. I'll share more details of the experience with you throughout the week, but today, I thought I'd hit the highlights.

After we all enjoyed breakfast under the HUGE oak tree in front of his house, Allen gave us a tour of his breathtaking Greek Revival home...

(just a peek for now...)

and exquisite gardens...

We learned all about soybeans - from the significant role they play in Arkansas agriculture to their myriad uses in various products and recipes.  Allen and Jim Carroll (member of the Arkansas Soybean Promotion Board) even helped us plant a row!!

Of course there was scrumptious food (lots of great soy recipes!),

...meeting fellow bloggers (and catching up with old friends! - JoBeth McElhanon, Boots McBlog )

It was an inspiring, educational day.  Southern hospitality at it's finest!!
